Truck carrying hay overturns near Julian

A truck carrying a load of hay overturned near Julian early today, prompting authorities to close part of state Route 78 in both directions, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The noninjury crash near the intersection of state Route 78 and Great Overland Stage Route was reported about 1:10 a.m., CHP officials said.

A tow truck was called to remove the overturned truck from the roadway, the CHP said.
