First Congregational Church hosts dinner, auction to fund mission project

Share

First Congregational Church will host its annual Corazon Auction and Dinner on Saturday, Aug. 17, to raise funds for a mission home-building project in Mexico. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m., dinner will be at 5:30, and a live auction will start at 6:30 in the church’s Fellowship Hall at Eighth and D streets.

The First Congregational congregation has worked with Corazon, a mission organization, for many years. Congregation volunteers annually build a home in Mexico for families who have earned points through community service. First Congregation members supply the labor, the Corazon Auction raises funds for building supplies, and recipient families work alongside, usually by cooking and offering hot lunch for the building crew.

The auction will feature a home-cooked Mexican meal and 70-plus items in silent and live auctions donated by local businesses and individuals.

Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple and are available at the church office weekdays or at the event. Ticket sales also support the home-build.

Anyone who cannot attend but would like to donate an item for the auction should contact the church office by Aug. 16 at 760-789-3348 or Carole Wylie at 760-789-0938.
