Motorcyclist dies in SR-78 crash Sunday

A motorcyclist died Sunday when the motorcycle crashed into the side of a mountain and then careened across State Route 78 before going off the highway at 3:40 p.m. in the 18000 block of San Pasqual Road, San Diego Police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

“A 60-year-old man on a motorcycle lost control, hit the side of amountain and bounced off of it, then went across lanes of traffic ending up on the other side of the road in a field of cactus,” Delimitrol said. “He died on the scene.”

A SigAlert was issued for a couple of hours following the fatal crash, closing State Route 78 between West Haverford Road in Ramona and Bandy Canyon Road.

The man’s name has not yet been released.
