Two vehicle accidents on State Route 67 Monday resulted in patients being transported to area hospitals.

Ramona Fire Department/Cal Fire transported a man complaining of neck pain to Pomerado Hospital after he was involved in a collision around 8:30 a.m. at Route 67 and Mussey Grade Road, said Capt. Jose Ramirez.

The man was traveling south on 67 and turning left onto Mussey Grade Road when his car was clipped in the right rear, said Ramirez. He was the only person in his car and the female driver of the white Chevrolet compact that was involved was uninjured, according to reports.

Late Monday afternoon, an adult female was transported by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries after her car rolled over on the shoulder of State Route 67, north of Mina de Oro Road, Ramirez said.

Around 3:30 p.m., the driver of a black Pontiac was southbound on SR-67 when the car veered into the guardrail, bounced back into the road and hit the right rear side of an SUV traveling north, said Deputy Robert Tockstein with the sheriff’s station in Poway.

The Pontiac landed on its roof with its front end in bushes on the north side of Route 67.

The SUV that was hit contained a female driver and two children in car seats, Tockstein said, adding that no one in the SUV was injured.

The deputy said alcohol use by the driver of the Pontiac was suspected.

Although the location is within Poway city limits, Ramona Fire Department responded because the initial report showed the accident at State Route 67 and Mt. Woodson Road, said Ramirez.

“Normally this would be an assist,” he said.

Ramona Fire Department was already on the scene when the Poway Fire Department arrived.
