Letter to editor: All VFW members should have been polled on Q

Dear Fellow VFW Members in Ramona & Fellow Ramonans,

Recently Doug Scholl had a letter published in the

Ramona Sentinel

which stated that our Ramona VFW Post supported the upcoming Proposition Q. I would like to let Doug Scholl know that not all VFW members support Prop Q. Why would one vote for higher property taxes?

Most of the need for Prop Q, according to our present School Board, is to repair schools and to refinance debt with a very high interest rate. The debt was created when previous school boards wanted to build a new school on Boundary that was not needed. I’m certain there is more to the story, but the bottom line is that many VFW members do not want to pay higher property taxes.

Mr. Scholl stated that the members who attended a recent local VFW meeting voted in favor of Scholl’s support of Prop Q. However, only a few members usually show up for those meetings and Scholl should have polled ALL members of our local VFW Post before making his public statement.

Probably the most important point I want to make is that the VFW should not get involved with our local political matters.
