Thunderstorms forecast for Monday

Monsoonal moisture and daytime heating will bring scattered thunderstorms to most parts of San Diego County Monday, posing a threat of flash flooding, forecasters said.

A flash flood watch will be in effect from 10 a.m. through this evening in the inland valleys, mountains, and desert areas of the county, according to the National Weather Service.

“A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding,” NWS advised. “Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.”

Recently burned areas can be especially susceptible to flash flooding.

The weather service forecast highs today in the mid 70s near the coast, low 80s inland, mid 80s in the valleys, low 70s to low 80s in the mountains, and mid 90s in the deserts.
