Only minor injuries were reported in a three-vehicle accident that caused an SUV to overturn at San Vicente Road and 11th Street at 1:47 p.m. on Wednesday.

CHP Officer Joe Nielsen said only the drivers of each vehicle were involved in the crash and no one was transported to the hospital.

“It could have been a lot worse,” said Nielsen. “Because everyone was wearing a seatbelt, it saved them from worse injuries.”

According to Nielsen, preliminary reports showed the driver of a full-size white van was eastbound on 11th Street and stopped at a red light at San Vicente Road but then continued to pull out into the intersection. The driver of a blue Nissan Xterra traveling southbound on San Vicente Road tried to avoid the van, but the van clipped the right rear of the SUV, he said. The SUV overturned on a white Ford Focus and came to rest in the left turn lane on northbound San Vicente Road.

Nielsen said no alcohol was involved and no one was ticketed.
