The top 15 finishers in each race at the Mt. SAC Invitational cross country meet, Oct. 20 at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, received medals, and two of those were Ramona High School runners.

Anna Mazzola placed seventh among the 83 runners in the Division 2 varsity race while Delaney Toth took 15th place among the 123 girls in the freshman race.

Ramona as a team took fifth in the Division 2 race.

“The varsity race I think they did well,” said Ramona coach Kim Toth.

Mazzola had a time of 19:51 on the 2.93-mile course. Ramona’s next two finishers in the varsity race worked together on the course before Ciara Lucas finished 19th in 20:20 and Arianna Ruland came in at 20:22 for 20th place.

“It’s a tough course,” Coach Toth said. “I’m really pleased with definitely the top three.”

Five Bulldogs competed in the varsity race. Teresa Leon’s time of 21:39 gave her 40th place while Rachel Brown finished 51st with a time of 21:58.

Ramona’s only runner in the JV race was Angelina Gray, who finished 65th among the race’s 115 girls with a time of 23:10.

Delaney Toth and Perla Cruz switched positions several times during the freshman race before Toth finished in 21:38 and Cruz had a time of 21:58 for 22nd place. Ramona had three girls in the freshman race. Chloe Knowd’s time of 22:23 gave her 32nd place.

“Very happy with the freshman girls,” Toth said.

“We couldn’t ask for better weather,” she added. “The heat got out of the way.”

The Bulldogs have a Valley League dual meet on Friday at Dos Picos Park against Del Norte.
