Registrar outlines voter deadlines

The voter registration deadline for the Nov. 6 general election is one week away, San Diego County Registrar of Voters Deborah Seiler said on Monday.

An online form in English or Spanish can be filled out at the registrar’s website — sdvote.com — and if the registrant’s signature is confirmed via Department of Motor Vehicles records, the form will be sent to the registrar’s office, Seiler said.

“If you’ve moved recently or changed your name, you’ll need to fill out a new registration form,” Seiler said. “If you go online, the process is quick, easy and convenient.”

She said forms can also be obtained at the registrar’s office on Ruffin Road near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and in post offices, city clerks offices, public libraries, and DMV offices.

Prospective voters will have until midnight Oct. 22 to get the forms postmarked or delivered to the registrar’s office.

Also, Oct. 30 is the deadline to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot, according to Seiler. The application form is available at the registrar’s website or the back of the voter information pamphlet.

Seiler said those already signed up for vote-by-mail do not need to reapply.
