Ramona High School’s boys cross-country team evened its Valley League dual meet record at 1-1 on Oct. 4 with a 15-48 victory over Mission Vista at Guajome Park.

“They did awesome. They had perfect scores in both varsity and JV,” said Ramona coach Steve Albanese.

The first five finishers in each race wore Ramona uniforms.

“We’re trying to put our top five in front of their number one,” Albanese said.

The top four varsity finishers had times of 17:20 on the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course. Officially, Max Edwards finished first, Cory Thomas was second, Forrest Riley placed third, and Wesley Hardin took fourth. Tristan Stidham was fifth and had a time of 17:21.

“They did a pack run,” Albanese said. “They could have gone faster, but they went just fast enough to get the perfect score.”

Mission Vista’s first finisher completed the course in 17:22. Ramona had the seventh and eighth finishers with Isaiah Spieker taking 17:41 and Josh Spieker racing for 18:16.

In the junior varsity race Colin Uekert posted a time of 18:17, James Meskell required 18:46, Joey Jauregui completed the course in 18:47, Matt Meskell had a time of 18:50, and Eric Szymanski ran the race in 19:17.

The Bulldogs are off this week and will compete at the Mt. SAC Invitational on Oct. 20.
