Bulldog boys basketball opens season, Tuesday

Ramona High Basketball coach David Reichner has named his roster for the 2012-2013 season.

Last season the Bulldogs went 8-18 overall and 1-9 in the Palomar League. This season the Dawgs will compete in the Valley League.

The Bulldogs have four seniors on the roster. Dylan Fieger is back at guard. Last season Fieger played in 20 games and averaged 2.4 points a game with 21 rebounds and 10 steals. Ryan Heiar played in 25 games and averaged 2.8 points a game with 56 rebounds and 11 steals. Heiar is 6 feet tall and will play guard and forward. Zach White played in 26 games and averaged four points a game with 32 rebounds and 18 steals. White is a 6-foot-1-inch guard. Alex Rogers is up from the junior varsity and is a 5-foot-10-inch point guard.

There are four juniors on the roster. Matt Lawler is the only junior with varsity experience. Last season Lawler played in 26 games and averaged 3.4 points a game with 69 rebounds and 16 steals. Lawler is 6 feet six inches and can play forward, center and guard. Riley Hubbard is a 6-foot-1-inch guard. Julian Marquis is a 6-foot-2-inch forward and Scott Stransky is a 6-foot guard and point guard.

Davis Windes is the only sophomore on the squad. Windes is a 6-foot-1-inch guard. Freshman Marco Cobian is a 6-foot-1-inch guard/ point guard.

Cobian and Lawler are currently on the varsity football team and will report after the playoffs.

The Dawgs will open their season with three home games before they play in pre-league tournaments: El Cajon Valley on Nov. 27, Army and Navy on Dec. 4, and La Jolla Country Day on Dec. 8, The games start at 7 p.m.
