Ramona’s Trainer: Summertime for kids

Share

RamonasTrainer_Title-1With the approach of Memorial Day, summer will be here. Schools will be vacated, buses will be parked, and kids will invade the streets and neighborhoods.

I can remember the anticipation of sleeping in and no homework and how excited I was to have free time to do the things I wanted to do, ride my bike, skateboard, and in my later years work out and get ready for football season.

Now is the time to encourage your kids to get active, not just for the summer, but hopefully for the rest of their lives. Ramona is a great family-centered community with numerous activities that your kids from elementary to high school can get involved in. The following are some of the camps and activities going on this summer that you need to take a look at:

Boys do not have to be registered Cub Scouts to attend, but must fill out a BSA membership form along with day camp registration. The fun-filled week is scheduled for June 18 - 22 at the Ramona Junior Fairgrounds on Aqua Lane. The cost is $110 for Scouts or $125 for non-Scouts, and includes camp T-shirt and hat, water bottle, program materials, crafts, snacks, and awards. Registration is ongoing. There are numerous more activities that your kids can get involved in, so do some research for yourself. Keep FUN in mind when you’re looking for something for your child 5-11. For the older kids, make sure that they are on board and that they will truly improve at their given sport through the camp.
