Mural Project board extends invitation to artists

After “creating the track to run on,” as Elaine Lyttleton, president of the Ramona H.E.A.R.T. Mural Project puts it, the group is excited to announce an artist’s call for two more murals.

The first mural is on the Town & Country Real Estate & Home Loans building at the corner of 10th & Main streets.

One of the next murals will be a depiction of the historic Kenilworth Inn to be painted on the west facing wall of the Ramona Food and Clothes Closet building at 773 Main St. at Main and Eighth streets. Kenilworth Inn once stood at this corner where the thrift store building now stands.

The second mural will be an equine-themed mural on the west facing wall of the Business Barn at 369 Main St. The San Vicente Saddle Club has already kicked off the fundraising for this mural with a donation and it is hoped the entire equine community will come together to raise the rest of the funds for it, said Lyttleton.

Members of the H.E.A.R.T. Mural Project Board have been presenting an informational PowerPoint presentation to service clubs throughout the community. The next presentation will be on June 6 at 7 p.m. at the Ramona Trails Association meeting in Ramona Community Center, 434 Aqua Lane.

The H.E.A.R.T. group is distributing the two artist’s calls to their email list. The website is being revamped, but it is hoped the calls will also be available there at www.Ramonamurals.com.

“This is an invitation to all artists who are familiar with the mural medium to submit a bid for either or both of these two murals,” said Lyttleton.

The deadline for submissions is June 30.
