WANTED: Man About Town candidates. Soroptimists International of Ramona

“It’s that time again when the Soroptimists of Ramona seek out the next Man About Town,” said Sally Westbrook, Ramona Soroptimist heading publicity for the project.

The successful candidate will serve for two years and participate in Soroptimist events helping to promote himself, his business, and his favorite charity.

Mark Bradley serves as Man About Town for 2010-2012.

“You can see and talk to Mark this Thursday at the Ramona Cafe where Soroptimists will be hosting Breakfast for Dinner, a fundraiser to help support the programs and scholarships for women and girls of Ramona,” said Westbrook.

Bradley raised approximately $2,000 in his campaign. Fifty percent of the proceeds went to help support his favorite charity — The Three-Day Breast Cancer Walkers from Ramona Beauty Supply. The other 50 percent went to the Soroptimist organization.

To compete, candidates will be furnished campaign buckets showing their business, their charity, and a little bit about themselves. Each cent they collect counts as one vote. The successful candidate and next Man About Town will be the one who collects the most votes.

The campaign will start on April 15 and run until Oct. 15. The winner will be announced at Soroptimists’ annual Barn Dance on Oct. 20.

“So, come on guys,” said Westbrook.

Call Westbrook at 760-525-4888 for an application or more information, or contact any Soroptimist.

“Who will he be?” asks Westbrook.
