Ramona’s Trainer: Get in the GAME! Sign up for something physical

Share

Now is the time to get involved in something physical. Spring is right around the corner and the weather is bound to be almost perfect.

Athletics, sports, and physical fitness are not just for kids. You may say, “I’m just not an athlete.” I beg to differ. All of us have an athlete inside ready to burst out and get physical.

No, not everyone has a world-class athlete inside. Some people are gifted from above and have put in endless hours working on their athleticism, but our bodies long for labor. We are made to move and must be deliberate about it.

Here is my encouragement to you. Get in the game and sign up for something physical. We live in America’s Finest City and this is due in large part to the weather and variety of different outdoor activities you can do.

Here are some options for you:

Team sports

such as adult soccer, softball, team Frisbee golf, and doubles tennis.

Individual sports

like golf. I’m a part of the Golf Channel tour where all levels can compete and play against people at the same skill level.

Tennis at San Vicente, or mountain bike

groups

like the one that meets at Kirk’s Bike Shop every Wednesday at 5:30.

Endurance sports

like running groups or triathlons. The Average Tri Girls led by one of my high school classmates, Mandy, has helped many first-time women and men get started in triathlons. Mike Gainey and Joey Davis-Scholl, two of the trainers at my club, can help you get started on a running program.

Gym type workouts

at Ramona Fitness Center, Brand X, Riviera Oaks, Fitness Xpress, Jazzercise, and the like. I’m partial to the first one, but honestly my club is not for everyone and my purpose beyond my faith in Jesus is to share the gospel of fitness, and there are numerous ways of moving your body and being “You, Only Better.” If you choose my club, I appreciate your business. If you choose something else, but you’re committed to movement, well good for you!

One last option that starts this week is the

Biggest Winner

contest open to all residents of Ramona. The team that loses the most percentage of bodyweight over six weeks will win $2,500. All you pay is $50 per person and that includes full access to the club and four trainer-led bootcamps for all levels. We are also going to lead participants through the Ropes Course at Oakbridge camp, which is going to be a blast!

Spring is upon us and now is the time. No excuses—time to move, time to be “You, Only Better.” For more information on your fitness options in Ramona, please visit www.ramonastrainer.com and I will give you contact information for those.
