Perdew, who has worked at the school district for the past 5-1/2 years as a computer technician I, is recognized for her work performance, school community involvement, leadership and commitment.

“Karen is always there for us. Not only is she great at her job but she also gives that extra caring touch to her job,” said Jennifer Hallmann, a secretary with pupil services.

Perdew started at the school district as a helping parent and was later hired as a lab technician.

“Her exemplary work output enabled her to be promoted to the district’s IT group, where she has become a dependable help for everyone,” said Laura Vigneau of Education Services Support.

Technology Director Keith Wright, Perdew’s supervisor, said she has taken on the challenge of PowerSchool, a web-based student information system, and has been training and helping employees with the program.

“The PowerSchool deployment would have suffered greatly if not for Karen’s participation,” said Wright.

“Karen’s support at our school sites and with our PowerSchool System has helped keep our schools and parents connected by giving them access to their children’s education progress,” Hallman noted.

Perdew was also praised for her involvement in the school community which included a project to help with diabetes screenings for fifth-graders in the district.
