Young scientists impress judges

Judges at James Dukes Elementary School’s 2nd Annual Science Fair agreed they had a difficult time selecting winners, saying the quality of the projects impressed them.

About 56 students in early-start kindergarten through sixth grade participated in the science fair, held during “Turn-off-the-Screen” week.

“The caliber of projects was amazing and the students did an amazing job presenting them,” said Vanessa McManus, who organized the fair.

The judges were James Dukes Principal Pauline Leavitt, David Jerrell, an engineer and James Dukes dad, and Dan Langhoff, a James Dukes teacher and biologist.

“The judges had a hard time choosing winners and said all the students did an amazing job with their projects,” said McManus. “The science fair was a big success again this year.”
