Friends plan football game before service to honor Morgan.

A Memorial Service for Ryan Morgan will be held at Ramona High School Stadium at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 9.

All are welcome.

“The whole community’s invited,” said retired U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Mike Ernst, RHS senior naval science instructor and junior varsity football and baseball coach. “He touched so many people in so many different ways.”

Ernst said players on Morgan’s senior football team at Ramona High will wear their jerseys, and members of Morgan’s track team will participate. Speeches will be given and at the end of the service Bulldog balloons with No. 10 written on them will be released into the sky.

Other details of the service were not final by the time the Sentinel went to press.

Prior to the formal Memorial Service, everyone who knew Morgan is invited to participate in a fun football game in his honor.

“We want to play a football game for all who would like to participate in a fun game in honor of Ryan Morgan,” said Derrick Bishop, a former Bulldog football player who was a senior at Ramona High when Morgan was a freshman.

Those planning to play are asked to have the No. 10 on their jersey or shirt and to arrive at 4:30 p.m. for the game at 5 p.m. If younger children want to participate, they will split the field, said Bishop.

“It’s all in honor of Ryan,” said Bishop. “If anyone has any pictures, anything that reminds them of Ryan, please bring it, because it’s to honor Ryan. This is a celebration of Ryan’s life, reminding us of not only his athletics but how many people he inspired and pushed to be better.”

Anyone wanting more information about the game may contact Bishop at 760-505-5855 or dbish0814@gmail.com.

RHS Stadium is at 1401 Hanson Lane.
