Golfers, sponsors invited to participate in Relay for Life ‘Golfing for a Cure’
The American Cancer Society, partnering with San Vicente Golf Resort, will host its first Relay For Life of Ramona “Golfing For A Cure” Tournament on Friday, Aug. 3.
The event will check in participants at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. at San Vicente Golf Resort, 24157 San Vicente Road.
“Best ball” will be the format of the tournament with four golfers per team. The registration fee is $100 per player which includes green fees, cart rental, box lunch, prizes and refreshments.
The American Cancer Society will also be hosting an opportunity drawing on the day of the event, in addition to chipping, putting and longest drive contests. The society gives special thanks to its community partner, John Hine Mazda, for sponsoring a Hole in One car for the tournament.
Individual registrations are welcome and teams will be assigned for day-of registrars.
Purple attire is recommended to show support for the Ramona Relay for Life.
For anyone who does not golf but is interested in advertising their business, being a sponsor, or making a donation to the event, there are several ways to participate. Sponsorship for a hole is $200. Dedication of a hole in honor of a friend or loved one enduring a cancer journey or in memory of a friend or loved one who has lost their life to cancer is a $100 donation.
“Of course, any donation to this event is greatly appreciated therefore please feel free to inquire,” said Ron Gomez, American Cancer Society Relay For Life manager.
All proceeds from the Golfing For A Cure Tournament will go to the American Cancer Society 2012 Ramona Relay For Life to continue cancer research and provide free cancer related programs and services to Ramona cancer patients, their families and caregivers. All donations are tax deductible.
