MADCAP Camp registration under way at Episcopal church

The Music Department at St. Mary’s-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church is starting to prepare for its annual MADCAP Camp, scheduled this year for Aug. 6 through 10.

On the church list of favorite composers of children’s musicals are Tom Long and Alan Pote. So, Choir Director Pamela Wade reports, this year’s production will be the writing team’s “Life of the Party,” which tells the story of Mary and Martha and their relationship with each other and with Jesus.

All children in the community in grades kindergarten through 8, are invited to participate, with special activities for preschoolers, ages 3 to 5. High school and college students are welcome to take part as production assistants.

Daily activities from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. include music, art, drama, cooking and publicity. A light lunch is provided Monday through Thursday, and the production is featured following Dinner Theatre on Saturday, Aug. 11.

It’s not too early to pre-register for the camp, said Wade, “especially since we shall need to order T-shirts for new participants before MADCAP starts.”

Those interested in having their child or children child participate may call either the church office at 760-789-0898 or Wade at 760-789-5234 for more information.
