Eric Box to play in All Star Football Classic
Eric Box will represent Ramona High School in the 22nd Alex Spanos High School
All Star Football Classic at 7:30 p.m., Friday at San Diego Mesa College.
Box will be attending the University of Western New Mexico in the fall where he will join his former RHS teammate Tyler Jackson.
Tickets are available at the gate. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-12. Children under five are free.
Box will play for the North Squad which holds an 11-6 edge over the South in previous games played under the present format. Proceeds from the game go to scholarships for San Diego County high school athletes.
Box continues the tradition of Ramona offensive linemen who have played in the Alex Spanos All Star classic and have gone on to play football in college.
Jackson Willeford selected for All State Baseball Team
Jackson Willeford can add another prestigious honor to his resume.
The 2012 Ramona High graduate has been selected for the All State Baseball Team of the Cal-Hi Sports. Willeford was named to the second team as an infielder.
He has signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Arizona. The Wildcats were the 2012 national champions.
Willeford was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the Major League free agent baseball draft. He hit .398 with 28 RBI, 11 home runs and stole 15 bases. He had a .806 slugging percentage. He had a .948 fielding percentage and helped turn 22 double plays.
