It’s time to dust off the clubs, re-lace the shoes and get ready for some golf.

On July 13, the second annual “Strike Out Cancer” Golf Tournament is being held, this year at The Vineyard Golf Course in Escondido.

The tournament, which is benefiting The Justin Sturgeon Special Needs Trust, is still looking for players as well as sponsors.

In 2010, Ramona resident Justin Sturgeon was diagnosed with Anaplastic Astrocytoma, brain cancer. Since then he has undergone surgery in February 2011 and has remained on radiation and chemotherapy treatment.

The treatment plan, which has left him exhausted and unable to work, will continue until November.

His wife Brooke and their sons Garin, 7, and Grayson 6, are looking forward to the support and love again this year that they received last year at the first tournament, which was held in Ramona at The San Vicente Golf Resort.

That event helped Sturgeon and his family with medical and living expenses throughout the year.

To register for the Golf Tournament and/or get information on being a sponsor, go to www.golfdigestplanner.com/20973-2nd_AnnualStrikeOutCancerGolfTour or contact Cathy Dove at 760-445-1477 or Cattdove@aol.com.
