Intra GU11 earns soccer championship

The Ramona Intra GU11 team, in their second season together, won the Temecula Valley Shootout soccer

tournament held Jan. 21-22 in Temecula.

The team came away with the championship trophy by going undefeated in the tournament, winning games 3-0, 6-1, 2-1 and in the finals 7-0. The defense was fierce, only allowing in two goals throughout the tournament.

The defense was anchored by sweeper Avery Campa, right defender Brianna Lopez, center-mid Paige Torsak and left defender Allison LaFuze.

“Our keepers, Samantha Reckling and Andrea Alcaraz, were tough as nail,.” said Rueben Alcaraz, the team’s head coach.

The offensive team was powered by Alcaraz with seven goals. Other goals were made by Brittany Roy (5), Kendall Purvis (2), Katie Vance (2), Carmen Ocampo (1) and Caedon Keith (1).

Carley Reese provided seven assists. Ryann Alcorn held strong in the midfield, and Paige Torsak was an unbeatable force.
