A fundraiser for a 3-year-old Julian girl battling leukemia will be held in American Legion Lincoln Deming Post 468 in Julian from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3.

Brooklin Butts, diagnosed with pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia in late December, is undergoing her first phase of chemotherapy. After completion of the first phase of her treatment, she will be re-evaluated to determine what action will be taken in the next, or maintenance, phase, according to a statement about her condition from Friends of Brooklin.

“She is fighting hard and has recently started losing her hair,” Friends of Brooklin report. “Brooklin has already endured three blood transfusions and three platelet transfusions. She is surrounded by her parents, Rory and Meghan, and her younger sister, Brylee. Support from family and the community is vital to the Butts family.”

Suggested donation for the Julian American Legion dinner of barbecue rib-eye steak, baked potato, vegetables, green salad, roll/butter and dessert is $12. The Julian post is at Second and Washington streets.

Donations also many be made to: Brooklin Butts, Rabobank, P.O. Box 1897, Julian, CA 92036.
