Ramona High’s girls basketball team notched its 10th win of the season as the Bulldogs tune up for Palomar League play.

Ramona beat Del Norte High school and will take on Francis Parker this week before taking on the Palomar League and a run at the CIF playoffs.

Coach Erin O’Connor’s Lady Dawgs are 10-5 on the season.

The Lady Bulldogs used their trademark pressure defense and a balanced scoring attack to beat Del Norte 45-38 on the road in a cross league NCC game to start the new year on a winning note.

Kim Whelehon led all scorers with 12 points while hitting three 3-point goals.

Paige Conroy and RaeAnne VanTol put up identical numbers as both seniors scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds apiece.

Conroy hit two 3-point shots. VanTol got her points in the paint.

Kailey Hill hit two shots from beyond the arch for 6 points.

Julie Ward (2), Tiana Zuniga (3) and Katherine Mauldin (3) also scored in the victory.

O’Connor remains happy with the play of her team.

“We play aggressive team defense and we are unselfish on offense,” she said.

Every girl on the team has a role and every girl on the team contributes when needed, said O’Connor.

“We are not a one-dimensional team in any phase of the game,“ added the coach.
