Black Canyon curve sees repeat accidents

Share

For the second time in about two months, two vehicles traveling in opposite directions on a curve of Black Canyon Road struck each other, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.

The spot is about 1-1/2 miles north on Black Canyon from where the paved road becomes dirt.

CHP Officer Brian Kattke said a woman was driving her car southbound where the road on the right drops off about 100 feet and side-swiped a motorcycle traveling northbound just after noon on Thursday.

Kattke said it’s happened before several times.

“Same exact spot,” he said, adding that drivers southbound will often cut the corner.

There were no injuries, he said, and only minor damage. Both the woman and male motorcyclist drove their vehicles away from the scene.
