A bizarre series of crashes and a high-speed chase of a motorcycle rider was reported last Friday by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies said the incident started with a motorbiker hitting some cars in Poway at 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 24.

Witnesses reported the rider fell off the bike several times while trying to drive away, then got conrol of the machine and headed north on Highway 67, according to sheriff’s Lt. J.T. Faulkner.

A court service deputy who was driving a marked vehicle spotted the suspect and attempted to pull him over, but the motorcyclist continued to ride north, Faulkner said.

The rider yielded at the intersection of state Route 67 and Hedy Drive, near Ramona, and was arrested, Faulkner said.

He then complained of leg pain. Paramedics were called out and took the suspect to Pomerado Hospital for evaluation and treatment, Faulkner said.
