Authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying whoever stole copper and aluminum from air conditioning units at churches in Ramona.

Four churches have been targeted in a two-month span beginning in late November, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. Of those four, one was targeted three times.

The crime spree began at the Church of Latter Day Saints at 527 Ninth St.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 537 E St. was struck next.

Authorities said the Catholic church was hit two more times before the thief or thieves moved on to The Way Church at 838 Hanson Lane.

The most recently targeted—in late January—was St. Mary’s in the Valley Episcopal Church at 1010 12th St.

Authorities estimate the total loss to all four churches is more than $44,000.

Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477. Tipsters may receive a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
