Ramona High School senior Janine Fastenau has organized the Cancer Benefit Concert that will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Ramona High School Performing Arts Wing on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10 and 11.

The concert will showcase the Ramona High School Jazz Band, Hanson Elementary Honor Choir, Heather Lovell, Madi McNiff, Aida Smith, Julian Gonzalez, Jesse Sammons Nick Komodina and Janine and Nancy Fastenau.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for high school students and $5 for ages 12 and younger. Proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

“I felt like I was wasting my talents,” said Janine Fastenau, explaining why she organized the concert.

A singer who plays the piano, Fastenau is a former singer with the Ramona High School Madrigals. This year she is in dance productions.

During the concert, statistics about children and cancer will be shared with the audience. All proceeds will go to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital because its mission is that no child is turned away, said Fastenau, the daughter of Nancy and Bill Fastenau.

Water, baked goods and other snacks will be available during intermission.

In addition to the entertainers who are volunteering their time to take the stage for the concert, Fastenau has received donations from business sponsors.

Among them are: Ramona Animal Pharm, doggy basket; Ramona Florist, flower arrangements for the donation tables; Bella Mia Salon, Spa & Boutique, salon and spa basket; and Velocity Paintball Park, two sets of tickets for park admission and equipment for two.

Fastenau said she also has received monetary donations from Amici’s restaurant and Ramona Family Naturals.
