Ramona Community Library will host a celebration of the library’s first anniversary on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 3 to 6 p.m.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Ramona Library, festivities will include activities for all ages, including music and dance performances, refreshments and opening remarks by San Diego County Library Director José Aponte.

The first anniversary celebration will showcase local talent, with Ramona resident Jose Smith playing the harp, Mariachi music by Señora Enedina Lammers, and Irish dancing and ballet by student Sierra Beggs.

In addition to the entertainment, there will be henna tattoos for teens and crafts for children.

Ramona Community Library at 1275 Main St. experienced dramatic growth during its first year of operation.

Customers have checked out 60 percent more items since the new library opened and visits to the library have doubled over the past fiscal year.

“The library serves as a community hub, bringing together the diversity of the Ramona experience in a sanctuary respectful of the individual and celebrating art, culture, and knowledge,” said Aponte.
