Rant: SDG&E’s application (filed in August 2009) to the California Public Utilities Commission to establish a Wildfire Expense Balancing Account (WEBA) is currently moving through the government channels for approval. Locally there is a push for a public hearing (prior to being voted on) led by Diane Conklin of the Mussey Grade Road Alliance and has been supported by three bay area watchdog groups. SDG&E feels a public hearing is not necessary prior to any approval as it is only approval to establish a balance account, not to raise rates which would require a separate application. So why shouldn’t the public be involved? It would be in SDG&E’s best interest to be as transparent as possible. Everyone knows the meaning of a balanced account: if it’s a negative, something positive (raise in rates) needs to happen.

Rave: Thank you, Diane Conklin and the Mussey Grade Road Alliance, for pushing for a public hearing on SDG&E’s application for a WEBA.

Rant: To the young punks who thought it would funny to vandalize the Ramona Library, causing thousands of dollars of damage. Who in the H#@L do you think you are? What gives you the right to destroy public property that others use and depend on daily? You will be caught, and my recommendation for part of your punishment should have you tied to one of the trees in front of the library so the whole town can toss various items at you (not to mention having you pay for all of the damage as well).

Rave: If you didn’t read last week’s Sentinel and the story by Peter San Nicolas (Ramona Fitness), get a copy and read it. For all of us who make excuses and think that life’s tough, this brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “Can Do People.” We should all aspire to be so inspirational.
