Share

Ramona resident Teri Merry, along with Sioux Munyon, will introduce Combined Driving Event (CDE), hailed as the fastest growing equine sport in the U.S., on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 3 to 6 p.m.

The free event will be held at Munyon’s barn at 10801 Redlander Way in Lakeside and will be followed by a potluck dinner and discussion from 5 to 6 p.m. Beverages will be provided and participants are asked to bring a dish to share.

This driving sport is for minis to drafts, and all sizes and breeds are welcome. The two-hour introduction to the sport will be presented by CDE competitors who will give an overview and explain the three event phases:

•Driven dressage following an established walk-trot pattern,

•Marathon section with trails and hazards to negotiate, and

•Cones course, which is tight and tined.

Participants will also learn about the courses and equipment and see video demonstrations of competitors in action.

The purpose of this event is to provide a beginner-friendly introduction to the sport and determine if there is enough interest to create training level events in the San Diego area. For more information, contact Merry at tmerry@sf-cg.com or 760-533-6853, or Munyon at sioux@siouxmunyon.com or 619-463-2773. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP.
