Airport gift wrapping ends today

Sunday, Dec. 23—

Volunteers and staff at San Diego International Airport today will continue their efforts today to offer ticketed passengers free gift wrapping, according to the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority.

Today is the last day the gift wrapping stations, which got under way Friday, were scheduled. Volunteer airport ambassadors and airport authority employees will wrap gifts from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Gifts that were not shipped ahead of time should be wrapped after passing through security, officials said.

Officials said the rules for liquids in carry-ons apply to holiday gifts, even those purchased at the airport before the security checkpoint.

Items like perfume, lotion, wine or alcohol and gift baskets with salsa or jam must be 3 ounces or less and placed in a clear, quart-sized plastic bag if transported in a carry-on bag.

Items purchased after the security checkpoint have been pre-screened and could be taken on flights, officials said.
