Museum closes in September for annual cleaning, exhibit changes

Guy B. Woodward Museum and its centerpiece Verlaque House will be closed during September for its annual cleaning and renewal of exhibits.

The museum at 645 Main St. will reopen Oct. 1. Ramona Pioneer Historical Society, which owns and operates the museum, will hold its first potluck meeting of the 2012-13 season on Oct. 16. The meeting will feature a presentation on Mt. Palomar’s historical telescope.

Museum Director Ken Woodward and docents Myra Arrendale and Wayne and Mary Jones have been working to catalog all the books in the museum’s collection.

Ramona Pioneer Historical Society officers for 2012-13 are: Judy Nachazel, president; Mischa Dobrotin, vice president/programs; Charlotte Hunsberger, treasurer; Doug Stubbs, secretary; Arline Bartick, historian; Bert Byrne, publicity; and Myra Arrendale, hospitality.

The museum is open Thursdays and Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m., and by appointment.
