Ramona’s 14U Pony League All-Star team ended its season last week, getting eliminated in the Pony Super Regional Tournament on July 28.

After winning six games in a row to win the Regional Tournament in Lakeside, Ramona moved on to Whittier for the Super Regionals.

In their first game on July 24, Ramona beat Northside from Oxnard by a score of 4-1. Three days later, their second round game turned out to be a tough draw. Their opponent, Long Beach, beat Ramona 8-1. After that loss, Ramona moved into the loser’s bracket and bounced back with a 5-4 win over Covina on July 28. A few hours later, their fourth game proved to be their last as they lost to Victoria, 12-1.

Victoria made it to the tournament finals, where they gave Long Beach their only loss of the tournament, but then lost the second game and ended up in second place. Long Beach won the Super Regional Tournament and moved on to the “Zone” in Watsonville.

Ramona’s loss ended a great post-season for the 14U team. Their overall record was 15-3, out-scoring their opponents 139 to 61. They had three shut outs and five games where they only allowed one run.

The 14U roster consisted of Carl Bunday, Lowen Hobbs, Anthony Kackman, Adam Lobe, John Mackay, Chandler Mackenzie, Noah Price, Todd Roberts, Vinny Smith, Dylan Spacke, Noah White and Blake Workman. The team was coached by Chet Kackman, Chris Bertolero, Mike Beluso and Guy Willeford.
