A Step Back In Time

There’s still something to be said about the “Old Days.” With the digital world able to offer anything you want, at any time you want and at lightning speed, it’s nice to slow down and just enjoy the space you’re in and the immediate surroundings. As more and more things change, some things are better left to endure as they always have been. Ramona Country Fair is one of those events, a classic small town event with an old-time carnival, food booths, demonstrations, talent competition and more. No high tech needed, just a down home good time and lots of fun.

As you wandered around this year’s fair, you saw families, seniors, teens and a lot of smiling faces. Yes, there were still people texting and some on their phones, but for the most part everybody was enjoying the atmosphere or the company that surrounded them. The carnival rides for the most part are still old school but with a few updates, proving that you can experience the thrill without having a controller in your hand sitting in front of a monitor with a vibrating seat. Being outdoors also offers yet another unique experience as the aromas and the sounds of a country fair surround you in perfect two part harmony.

So the next time you have the opportunity to not only enjoy the outdoors, but to experience some of our hometown flavor, get out and do it, and leave the electronic/digital world behind you. And you won’t have to wait long as the Ramona Junior Fair, another great Ramona tradition, is this week, with the livestock auction Saturday and final events and awards on Sunday.
