Ramona branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater San Diego offers a free mentoring program for children of military families.

“The incentives for new members joining the mentoring program are one free week of summer Day Camp and a celebratory field trip to LEGOLAND®,” said McCune.

The program lasts six weeks and is open to school-age children of service men and women.

Participants will be engaged in activities designed to encourage academic, social, and character growth. The program provides one-on-one and group mentoring as well as a safe, fun, and caring place for military children after school, said McCune.

The deadline to register for the mentoring program is May 7.

The club also offers free after-school membership year-round for military families, she said.

For more information, call 760-788-7564, visit the club at 622 E St. in Collier Park, or email McCune at smccune@sdyouth.org.

The clubhouse is open weekdays from 2 to 6 p.m. for tours.
