Artisans and crafters of all types tend to gather and thrive in Ramona, but the Valley of the Sun is also home to many local history buffs. When the two groups join forces this weekend, the result will be a craft fair that benefits the Ramona Town Hall.

The “In Your Own Backyard” Spring Craft Fair will be held at the Ramona Town Hall Friday through Sunday, April 27-29. On Friday, hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and on Sunday, from 11 to 5.

Lynette Harding, Vicki Franano, and Sue Boughner organize the In the Your Own Backyard craft fairs twice a year. The crafts range from traditional art to pieces in wood, copper, and jewelry.

“Garden plants, vegetable starts, honey, garden art, all kinds of sewing and embroidery work, antique button jewelry, hand-woven baskets, and much more will be available from about 30 different vendors,” said Harding.

Vendor registrations will be donated to Ramona Town Hall for ongoing costs of the historic building, located in the heart of downtown at 729 Main St. Annual insurance cost for the building is about $8,000, an additional $250,000 is needed to complete the front portion of the building, and at least $150,000 will be needed for an architect and engineer to determine the estimated cost to restore the main hall, said Sandee Salvatore, secretary-treasurer of the Ramona Town Hall Board.
