Ramona High School’s boys track and field team took all three scoring positions in the 3,200-meter race during the April 18 Palomar League dual meet at Torrey Pines High School.
“That was a really nice way to almost end the meet.” said Coach Sherri Edwards.
Tristan Stidham not only won the race but set a personal record by more than half a minute with his time of 9:53.
“He ran awesome,” Edwards said.
Cory Thomas was second at 10:01 while Alec Richardson had the third-place time of 10:26.
Ramona’s Forrest Riley added a first-place finish in the 1,600-meter race, taking 4:34.3 to run the metric mile.
Even though the 93-43 score was in the Falcons’ favor, Ramona had two other two event wins courtesy of Connor Guasti, who had a long jump of 20 feet 6 inches and a triple jump of 41 feet 9 inches. Guasti also cleared 5 feet 6 inches in the high jump to place second.
“Connor Guasti had a really good jumping day,” Edwards said.
Preston Johnson was second in both throwing events with a 47-foot-11-inch shot put distance and a 121-foot-2-1/2-inch discus toss.
Javier Dominguez captured second place while setting a personal record of 23.3 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Dominguez also took third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.7 seconds.
Cesar Corona had the second-place time of 53.6 seconds in the 400-meter race. Dustin Hager’s time of 17.6 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles gave the Bulldogs second-place points.
Edwards will take some of Ramona’s distance runners to Friday’s Escondido Invitational, and the Bulldogs’ younger athletes will compete in Saturday’s Dick Wilkins Frosh-Soph Invitational meet at El Capitan High School.
