Ramona High School’s boys swim team took first place in three of the 11 events in the Bulldogs’ April 17 home meet against the Torrey Pines Falcons.

The Falcons won the Palomar League meet by a 118-53 score.

“I was kind of hoping to get some more points out of that, but it definitely could have been a lot more lopsided,” said Coach Frank Yturralde.

Ramona sophomore Garrett Glaudini won both of his individual events, spending 56.27 seconds racing the 100-yard butterfly and 57.50 seconds competing in the 100-yard backstroke. Glaudini, Carlo Silva, Ted Dean, and Zach Lane had a winning time of 1:48.96 in the 200-yard medley relay.

Silva posted a best time of 1:03.92 in the 100-yard breaststroke and still finished second. Dean’s time of 1:57.37 in the 200-yard freestyle gave him consideration status for the CIF meet, but that was only worth third place in the race.

“They had a lot of fast guys in that race,” Yturralde said of Torrey Pines. “All across the board they were really well-balanced.”

On May 1, the Bulldogs will travel to Mount Carmel High School for a Palomar League dual meet.
