The Ramona Bulldog golf team lost its showdown with two-time defending state and CIF champion Torrey Pines.

The Dawgs traveled to Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club and lost to the Falcons 191-208 after handing the Falcons their only loss in over two years earlier in the season.

Torrey Pines took advantage of their home course as they were paced by Eric Peng who shot a three under par 33 to win medalist honors. Every Falcon bettered their counterpart in the match.

Christian Rajcic shot low score for the Dawgs as he carded a 38. Rajcic was the only Dawg who shot under 40. James Andrews shot a 40, Joe Fortunato fired a 42 and Brandon Zane carded a 43. Ryan Graf carded a 45.

“There is a reason they are the defending state champions. They shot very well and they were ready for us. They didn’t take us lightly. They beat us and they will be the Palomar League champions. We now have to get ready for the CIF playoffs,” said Coach Jerry Patenaude.

Ramona lost to Westview High School 203-216 at Carmel Highlands Golf Club. Graf returned to form and shot a 37 on the par 36 front nine. Tanner Angel and Fortunato each carded a 41. Andrews turned in a 44. Ben Anderson-Parks and James Morton each shot 53.

“We will try to tune up for the North County Championships and the CIF. We are in a tough division but we have played a very tough schedule and if we play to our potential, we will be in contention for the CIF title,” said Patenaude.
