Ramona High School’s baseball team lost three Palomar League games to Rancho Bernardo last week and are now 8-12 on the season and 1-5 in the Palomar League.
The Bulldog team plays two games on the road at Poway this week.
The Dawgs opened their three game series against Rancho Bernardo at home in a 4-1 losing effort.
Beau Sulser pitched well but the Ramona offense could not figure out Bronco starter until late in the game. Matt Osborne limited the Dawgs to three hits and fanned six. Sulser got the start and went six and a third innings. He gave up three earned runs on nine hits and struck out five. Rhett Williams came in in relief and went two thirds of an inning to finish the game. Williams did not give up a hit or a run.
Ramona scored its only run in the sixth inning. Jordan Farhat doubled in Hunter McHargue who singled. Kyle Wilson also singled for the RHS team. The Dawgs left the bases loaded in the frame.
The Dawgs traveled to Rancho Bernardo on Saturday for a double header and lost games of the twin bill.
Ramona lost the opener 10-2 as the Broncos out-hit the Dawgs 11-6. Ramona took the lead in the top of the first inning when Jackson Willeford doubled in Gage Canning. The Broncos then scored three runs in the bottom of the frame and never relinquished the lead.
Harrison McGhee got the start and took the loss. He gave up eight earned runs and six hits as he fanned one. McHargue finished on the mound and gave up two runs on five hits.
The Dawgs scored in the fifth when Jordan Farhat drove in Wilson after Wilson had singled. Farhat had two hits in the game. Fitzpatrick and Sulser also delivered singles in the loss.
Rancho Bernardo won the final game of the series 9- 3. Ramona scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning. Trailing 6-0, the Bulldogs got a two blast from Willeford for his seventh home run of the season. Willeford drove in Canning who had singled. Henry Flecker then singled to drive in Kevin Hagan who had singled. Flecker had two hits in the game. Sulser also had two hits for the Dawgs.
