SAN VICENTE VALLEY CLUB

will start its new season with a luncheon meeting featuring Suzanne Miyasaki, principal of San Pasqual Academy, the first residential education campus for foster youth in the nation. Social time starts at 11 a.m., call to order at 11:30 a.m., luncheon at noon and program at 1 p.m. All are welcome. RUMMAGE SALE, E-WASTE RECYCLING

—Ramona High School Band will conduct a fall rummage sale from 7 a.m. to noon and E-Waste Recycling from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Ramona High School parking lot, 1401 Hanson Lane. All proceeds will support the RHS Marching Band in tournament competitions. A variety of items will be available at the rummage sale. All kinds of electronics, including old big-screen TVs, and small appliances will be accepted. No batteries or light bulbs will be accepted. SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL RUMMAGE SALE

— Soroptimist International of Ramona’s kick-off fundraiser toward bettering the lives of women and girls locally, nationally and worldwide will be at 311 12th Street from 7 a.m. until noon. There will be coffee and doughnuts, and great bargains are promised. The holidays are just around the corner, so get a head start on your shopping.

SPURS, SPOKES AND SNEAKERS,

Ramona Trails Association’s annual fundraiser, will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the auction starting at 12:30 p.m. The ride, bike or hike event will start at the RTA trail staging area at Ramona Community Park on Aqua Lane. For cost and more information, see page 3.

VFW PIG ROAST

, a fundraiser to benefit the Ramona post and its auxiliaries, will be from 1 to 10 p.m. at Dalemar Ranch, 17067 El Sol Road. The event features food, games and entertainment. Motorhome and tent camping is available. For more information, see page 9.

CAR SHOW

—Owners of pre-1974 trucks and cars are invited to join the display of vehicles at a free car show in the Albertsons parking lot in the 1400 block of Main Street on Sundays from 4 to 8 p.m.. All are welcome to bring their vehicles. Tractors, tanks, boats, Peterbilts, motorcycles and other vehicles are welcome.

VENTURING CREW FORMING

—A group of parents have expressed an interest in Venturing Scouting for youth, so a meeting will be held in the Scout Hut at Seventh and F streets in Collier Park at 7 p.m. Parents and teens (boys and girls) ages 14 to 19 interested in establishing a traditional, outdoor activity-oriented Venturing Crew in Ramona for backpackng, cycling, canoeing/kayaking, etc., are encouraged to attend. Goals and objectives for the crew, hot to get it started, how it should function and what activities potential crew members would be interested in doing will be discussed. BACK COUNTRY QUILTERS

will meet in Sizzler of Ramona, 344 Main St., for dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by a planning meeting at 6:30 p.m. for the upcoming Twelfth Annual Quilt Show. All committee heads need to be represented to finalize preparations for this year’s show. The Quilt Show will be held at the Mountain View Community Church. (Highway 78 and Ash Street in Ramona) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 15. Admission and parking are free.

— Ramona Woman’s Club 100th year kickoff meeting in the clubhouse, 524 Main St., at 1 p.m. will feature a “Historical Fashion Show” presented by Charlotte’s Antiques and the Ramona Rockettes. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served after the show. Betty Shaw, the club’s first vice president, invites the community to “please come and join us for this fun look back at fashion.”

HOLIDAY CENTERPIECES

—Demonstrations, fire safety information, Smokey Bear, and fire engines, helicopters, a firefighter dozer and other public safety equipment are among features planned for the annual open house at Ramona Fire Station 80, 829 Main St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ramona Explorer Post members will sell hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks.
