Pamo Valley Winery hosts fundraiser to help boy needing kidney transplant

Share

Ramona businesses continued their efforts to raise money for a Ramona family whose toddler son needs a kidney transplant at Jennifer Jenkin’s Celebrate Summer event at Pamo Valley Winery’s tasting room at 603 Main St.

Jenkin, owner of Pamo Valley Winery, reports the event — complete with tractors, a barbecue and wine — raised $1,400 for Liam Houck and his family.

“It was a blistering hot day and the turnout was slow,” said Jenkin, but, as the temperature cooled, quite a few people turned out to support what has become a community effort to help the Houck family.

Jenkin thanked Ramonan Pat Donovan for staging his antique tractors in the parking lot, attracting the attention of passersby. She also had praise for Mike Celaya and Sharon and Jeff Uran for barbecuing in the 100-degree weather.

Leaving with smiles on their faces were Ramona residents Ava and Jim Stearns, who won the 50/50 drawing, and Paul Stykel, also of Ramona, who won 16 bottles of Ramona Valley wines, signed by the winemakers.
