One seat still open on Design Review Board

Ramona Design Review Board still has one seat open. Interested candidates are asked to attend the board’s Oct. 27 meeting.

Three board terms expired in September and members Carole Wylie and Reed Settle opted not to serve again. Chair Debi Klingner’s term also expired, but she asked to stay on the board.

Interested candidates have been invited to attend the design review board meetings, held on the last Thursday of the month.

At the board’s Sept. 29 meeting, members voted in Ramona resident Michiyo Kirkpatrick, who presented her qualifications to the board at its August meeting. Kirkpatrick said she has a master’s degree in fine arts with an emphasis in graphic design. She teaches as an adjunct professor at several San Diego community colleges and worked in the graphic design department of the county’s Department of Public Works for five years.

Board member Carol Close told Kirkpatrick she would be a “very welcome addition.”

The board voted to give Klingner an additional term. Before Kirkpatrick can serve as a voting member, her appointment must be approved by the county board of supervisors.

Although board members named some residents who expressed an interest in serving, they chose to leave the remaining seat open because no other candidates attended the meeting.

The board will meet at 7:30 p.m. next Thursday at the Ramona Community Center, 434 Aqua Lane.
