TOPS MEETING—The Ramona Chapter of TOPS (Take Pounds Off Sensibly) meets in Grace Community Church, 1234 Barger Place, at 9 a.m. Weigh-in is at 8:30 a.m.DIABETES WORKSHOP—Discussion and information are available at 10 a.m. in Ramona Library, 1275 Main St.BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING—Free blood pressure screenings are offered from 10 a.m. to noon in Ramona Senior Center, 434 Aqua Lane. WALK FOR LIFE—Olive Peirce Middle School will host the 3rd Annual Walk for Life Suicide Prevention event from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The walk is held to raise awareness about youth suicide and to raise money for suicide prevention programs. Gift baskets and opportunity drawing items are needed. Anyone interested in making a donation may contact Michele Mauney, OPMS counselor, at mmauney@ramonausd.net.TEEN MUSIC SHOP—Teen musicians, vocalists and writers collaborate and share ideas on the Ramona Library Community Room, 1275 Main St., from 3 to 4:30 p.m.A TASTE OF RAMONA—That’s the theme of Ramona Chamber of Commerce’s October mixer at Ramona Disposal Service, 324 Maple St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Results of the chamber’s board election will be announced, entertainment, a pumpkin carving contest and food from Ramona restaurants are planned. Cost is $5 for chamber members and $10 for others. Those bringing a carved pumpkin will have an opportunity to win a prize. For more information, call the chamber, 760-789-1311.

ZUMBA FOR LIAM—Ramona Fitness Center will host the Biggest Zumba Class in Ramona as a fundraiser for Liam Houck from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The $10 donation per person will go completely to Liam, the Ramona toddler who needs a kidney transplant. Ramona Fitness Center at 558 Main St. will close off its parking lot and have a DJ lined up for the event. Rose Ramirez of Ramona will lead the Zumba class, which is open to the public. Prizes will be awarded in two categories: Single Person Pumpkin and Group Pumpkin.FAMILY FUN DAY—Ramona Farmers’ Market plans a Fall Family Fun Day as a fundraiser for Liam Houck, the Ramona toddler who needs a kidney transplant, in the Kmart parking lot at 1855 Main St. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A children’s pumpkin decorating contest from 11 a.m. to noon, trick or treating, Jumbo Jump, games, clowns, live entertainment and prizes are planned.CUT-A-THON for the Ramona High School band will be held at Bella Mia Salon, Spa and Boutique, 745 Main St., from 3 to 6 p.m. Stylists Lauren Roby, Kris Raymer and Linda Hall will be giving haircuts only and will give all proceeds to the band. VOLLEYBALL PUMPKIN PATCH—Ramona High School girls volleyball team has a pumpkin patch in the AutoZone parking lot, 370 Pala St., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Sunday in October. The pumpkins come in all shapes and sizes and are grown in Ramona. FALL CARNIVAL—Mt. Woodson Elementary School’s Fall Carnival promises to be “the most Spooktacular night” at the school, 17427 Archie Moore Road, from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be cotton candy, popcorn, hamburgers, hot dogs, ghosts, goblins, witches and screams of laughter. Booths, prizes, a haunted house and a cake walk are just part of the fun planned. Mt. Woodson PTA sponsors the carnival, and proceeds will benefit school programs and projects supported by the PTA.
