Ramona Library at 1275 Main St. opens Mondays through Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. and closes Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays at 5 p.m. Among upcoming activities are:

YOUTH

Baby Lapsit Storytime: (Ages 0-18 months) Storytime, Rhymes, songs and movements that emphasize adult-child interactions. Bring your infants and enjoy a special time at 11:30 a.m. on Mondays, Oct. 4, 10 and 17.

Bilingual Preschool Storytime: Enjoy a fun story at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct, 5, and the first Wednesday of every month. Fun crafts to follow storytime at 11:30 a.m. for your toddler.

Preschool Storytime: Enjoy a fun story at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12 and 19, followed by crafts for your toddler to make at 11:30 a.m.

Grandparents and Books: Stories are read from a selection of favorite children’s books on every Thursday at 11 a.m.

TEENS

Homework Club: For all ages Monday through Thursday at 4 p.m.

Ramona Library Chess Team: Meets on Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m.

Teen Online Book Club: at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Teen Music Shop: New program for teens ages 15+ for musicians, vocalists, writers to collaborate and share ideas at the Community Room Stage from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays, Oct. 7 and 14. Bring your gear, or use ours.

Teen Video Game Arcade: (Grades 6 -12) Video game challenge, bring your friends to play popular games on gaming consoles at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8 and 22.

Teen Read Week: For grades 6-12, with events occurring Oct. 16-22. Among programs planned are: Henna Temporary Body Art where teens will learn about this ancient body art technique and get to choose from designs to apply at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18; Murder Mystery Whodunit? — participate in solving a mysterious crime at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20; Dia de los Muertos presented by Back from Tomboctou will show how to create and decorate a Sugar Skull to take home at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21. Come in to pick up an October calendar of events and programs.

FAMILIES

Pajama Storytime: Enjoy time with your family at the new library during pajama storytime, every Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Family Crafts: Bring the whole family to make interesting arts and crafts projects every Friday at 3:15 p.m. All ages welcome.

Yoga: Bring your mat! For instruction in Hatha Yoga at 11 a.m. on Fridays. All ages welcome.

Saturday Afternoon Matinee: Watch a movie appropriate for all ages, on the wide screen in the Auerbach Community Room. The first Saturday of every month at 2 p.m.

ADULTS

Adult Book Club: Discussion on the book “The 19th Wife” by David Ebershoff at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.

National Latino Research Center: Group meeting on Mondays at 5 p.m.

LEARN: Learn the newest test format and how to fill it out and practice the civic questions for citizenship exam. Call 760-643-5144 or come to class to register on Mondays at 6 p.m.

Tai Chi: Instructor led Tai Chi classes for adults in the Auerbach Community Room on Thursdays at 9 a.m.

Diabetes Workshop: Discussion and helpful information available at these health and wellness workshops at 10 a.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 6 and 20.

Bilingual Spanish Computer Helpers: Instruction for beginners on Thursdays at 6 p.m. Call 760-788-5270 for appointment.

Friends of the Library Book Sale: Monthly book sale with special buys. Come on in to the book store in the library lobby and see what bargains you can find from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15.

General

Friends of Ramona Library: The Ramona Friends hosted the luncheon for the County Friends of Library’s quarterly meeting. The luncheon was well attended and informative. The county’s representatives and other library branch Friends’ groups representatives gave updates on all the upcoming activities in their areas.

The newest edition of The Friendly Waves newsletter is out. This will be the last mailing of the newsletter, which may be picked up in The Open Book library bookstore or emailed to Friends’ members who have updated their email address. The new website also has the newsletter posted for viewing along with all the current library news at friendsoframonalibrary.org.

The Friends of Ramona Library annual board meeting will be in November. Elections will be held for some board seats and directors at large.

Friends Book Store: The monthly book sale is Saturday, Oct, 15, in the library bookstore. There is always a sale special, so come in and see what treasures you can find. There is also a selection of classic books and specialty books with various prices. Bookstore hours are Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
