The statewide Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) has named Arch Health Partners a top performing physician organization for the second consecutive year.

Of approximately 200 physician groups, IHA rated Arch Health Partners one of the top 44 in California for 2010. Awards were presented at the IHA Pay for Performance Stakeholders meeting in Los Angeles last Thursday.

“We all think that we give excellent medical care, but it is nice to see that our efforts have been validated by an external source,” said Arch Health Partners Medical Director Dr. Scott Flinn.

Arch Health Partners has about 50 physicians at locations in Ramona and Poway and plans to open an office soon in San Marcos.

IHA is a statewide leadership group that promotes quality improvement, accountability and affordability of healthcare in California.

Arch Health Partners was one of four physician organizations in San Diego County to receive the performing awards this year. Selection was based on four measures: clinical quality, patient experience, information technology-enabled systems and coordinated diabetes care.

IHA’s four Pay for Performance (P4P) programs are being used by seven health plans — Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, CIGNA HealthCare of California, Health Net of California, UnitedHealthcare, and Western Health Advantage — to calculate incentive payments for distribution to physician organizations in 2011.

Arch Health Partners was named a top performer last year after being selected as one of the most improved physician groups the previous year.

“While we are thrilled to have been recognized, this also motivates us to continually look for ways to further improve our services,” said Mary Ellen Leahy, director of Performance Improvement and Continuity of Care.

Arch Health Partners is a medical foundation associated with Palomar Pomerado Health. For more information about Arch Health Partners, contact Leahy at 858-675-3176 or visit www.archhealth.org. For information about IHA, contact Cindy Ryan Ernst at 510-208-1743 or cernst@iha.org.
