Judge issues warrant for Ramona man who fails to show up for trial

Two warrants for the arrest of Brandon Lee Mayors of Ramona have been issued after he failed to show up for his trial Sept. 27 on misdemeanor charges that allege he assaulted a security guard and was drunk in public at the 41st Ramona Country Fair.

Mayors, 22, was allowed to remain free on his own recognizance after his arraignment on Aug. 23 before El Cajon Superior Court Judge Margo Lewis, according to court records. Lewis set the trial date for Sept. 27.

Following the no show, another El Cajon Superior Court judge issued a $5,000 warrant for Mayors’ arrest. The bail figure for the second warrant was unavailable.

Mayors is accused of committing misdemeanor battery upon David Casillas, who worked as a private security guard on July 30. A sheriff’s deputy was called to the scene after the security guards were holding Mayors, and the deputy arrested him.

If Mayors is convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine. He could also face another charge of failing to show up in court.
