A winter Pacific storm is expected to move through San Diego County Sunday, bringing precipitation and gusty winds.

Isolated sprinkles and light winds are expected, with cooler than average temperatures, as a trough of low pressure moves over the West Coast, the National Weather Service reported.

The storm system from the Gulf of Alaska is expected to move inland across Southern California and Northern Baja Sunday and Monday morning, according to a NWS statement.

Winds of up to 40 miles per hour are expected Sunday afternoon in area mountains and deserts. Rainfall amounts could reach half an inch near the coast and up to one inch on coastal mountain slopes.

One quarter of an inch or less is expected in the deserts.

Snow could be possible at elevations of higher than 5,500 feet Sunday afternoon and evening, the NWS said.
